"Whether we realize it or not, it is our woundedness, or how we cope with it, that dictates much of our behavior, shapes our social habits, and informs our way of thinking about the world." Gabor Mate
"So take seriously the story that God has given you to live. It's time to read your own life because your story is the one that could set us all ablaze." Dan Allender
“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do."
Brené Brown
Welcome — I'm Sydney Sykes
I believe it is the wise and courageous person who pursues therapy. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but of strength—an act of bravery that honors the longing for healing, growth, hope, and transformation. When we have a safe space to explore our stories with a compassionate guide, relief and restoration often emerge in ways we never imagined possible.
As a therapist trained under Dr. Dan Allender and Dr. Larry Crabb, I’ve devoted my life’s work to helping people engage their stories in deep, transformative ways—discovering the hidden patterns, wounds, and beliefs that can shape their lives. Along the way, I’ve pursued training in a variety of therapeutic modalities, allowing me to draw from a broad and flexible toolkit tailored to each unique person.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and no session is ever the same.
This work is not about blame or staying stuck in a victim role—it’s about naming and understanding our realities so we can move toward clarity, healing, and freedom.
It is powerful and sacred work.
Research shows that nearly 80% of our current interactions and emotional responses are shaped by our past. By identifying and naming these patterns with honesty and compassion, we create a path toward real and lasting change—one that leads to deeper connection, greater freedom, and renewed wholeness.
For over 20 years, I’ve walked with individuals, couples, and families as they navigate the complexities of life and relationships. I work with a wide range of issues, including:
Grief and loss
Anxiety and depression
Marriage and family struggles
Spirituality and faith
Loneliness
Infertility
A variety of relational challenges
"Stuckness"
Chronic Pain
Negativity and hopelessnes
Whatever brings you to therapy, you don’t have to face it alone.
I am fiercely committed to walking with you—with curiosity, compassion, and care—without judgment. It is a profound privilege to sit with people in their most vulnerable places and to witness the courage it takes to do this work.
To witness others experience freedom and healing every week is a gift—one of the sweetest I know.
Finding the right therapist is a vital part of the healing journey. Therapy works best when you feel safe, seen, and understood. The therapeutic relationship is built on trust, and it's important to find someone with whom you can do this deep work. If we are a good fit, I will consider it an honor to walk with you. If not, I fully support you in finding the person who can provide the safety and connection you need to heal.
Because healing is never one-size-fits-all, I integrate a range of therapeutic modalities, including:
Internal Family Systems (IFS): Healing the different parts of yourself
Psychoanalytic Therapy: Exploring unconscious patterns and deep-seated beliefs
Relational Life Therapy (RLT): Breaking dysfunctional cycles and building stronger connections
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT): Developing psychological flexibility and resilience
Ideal Parent Protocol (IPP): Rewiring early attachment wounds through new experiences
Somatic Work: Releasing trauma stored in the body through embodied practices
Neuroscience-Based Approaches: Using brain science to support long-term transformation
Self-Compassion Practices: Cultivating kindness and understanding toward yourself
I offer individual therapy, couples therapy, and intensive work for those seeking focused healing in a condensed timeframe (20 hours over a month+). Intensives are ideal for those ready to dive deeper in a shorter period and are offered outside of normal business hours at a different rate.
You don’t have to do this alone.
We are created for connection—and we grow best in the presence of others.
